DoTec, the fine rope system for precise pulling and tensioning technology: For controlling and transmitting forces, made up with various end or intermediate pieces. Flexibly adjustable for all specific requirements. We have fine ropes in various constructions with assembled transmission elements, for example, to bring a control system from A to B or via C to D. The fine wire system is ready for installation. There are hardly any limits to the technical possibilities for the designer. Fine ropes can be used to direct forces around corners without significant frictional losses. The precise transmission minimizes voltage losses.
The rope materials
The standard steel fine ropes are made of galvanized drawn wires. The stainless steel version is usually produced by Dolezych in material no. 1.4401 (AISI 316) or material no. 1.4301 (AISI 304). Other stainless steel grades, for example 1.4571 (AISI 320) are available on request. The ropes are available with different sheath materials (see table on page 284). We are flexible and can adapt to specific requirements. Please contact our special consultants for all design-related questions.
What rope construction?
Daily practice has led to the development of a proven standard rope range in thicknesses from approx. 0.1 to 3 mm in various rope constructions. The wall thickness for jackets should be at least 0.15 mm, depending on the material, but should not exceed 2 mm. If ropes or strands to LN standard or Mil-W-83420 D specification with other strengths or tolerances are required, please inquire.
We recommend these designs as tensioning and holding ropes:
These designs are suitable for dynamic stresses:
Thedirection of lay of all strands and ropes is usually right-handed (Z), we also manufacture left-handed (S) on request. For ropes, the standard stranding is according to (sZ) cross lay right-hand lay (see also p. 284 ff).
In the case of deflections, sufficiently dimensioned pulley diameters must be ensured. 16 x d (rope diameter) should be considered the absolute minimum. 25-50 x d can significantly increase the lifetime. Impurities in the groove impair the service life.
Theelongation of a rope takes place in 2 stages. The 1st stage is a so-called structural stretching, which is 2. the elastic elongation. Structural elongation occurs on each new rope. We can speak of a setting process in which the rope components such as strands and wires take their optimum place in the rope or strand structure. A unique and permanent stretch is created.
Elastic strain depends on the applied load. It decreases to 0 within the elastic range after unloading. The elastic range ends at about 50-60% of the calculated breaking force, i.e. if the rope load exceeds this, the yield point is exceeded, so that deformation occurs. Structural elongation and elastic elongation depend on the rope construction, the core (fiber or steel core) and the lay length. Structural elongation is around 0.25-0.5%, elastic elongation between 0.25 and 0.75% (empirical values).
Tension and bending changes lead to wear of the fine ropes. The service life can be positively influenced, e.g. by sufficiently dimensioned roll diameters or the choice of a suitable cover.

We assemble galvanized fine wire ropes and stainless steel fine wire ropes with a wide variety of end fittings according to your specifications. You will find a selection of the common combinations on this double page. Given the large number of possible applications, however, only a small spectrum can be presented here. Please talk to our technical advisors if you require special end connections for fine wire rope applications.
