FAQ Textile chain DoNova®

dyneema chain

On this page you will find answers to frequently asked questions about both systems of the textile chain DoNova®
DoNova® PowerLift (sling chain) and DoNova® PowerLash (lashing chain).
If your question is not answered on this page, please contact us. We will be happy to help you.

Will the textile chain be accepted by the police and the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH)?

The DoNova® is so innovative that there is no own standardization for this product type so far. However, it is manufactured in accordance with current standards so that it is accepted by the authorities. As a manufacturer, we provide information and training on this new product area on a regular basis. Many police officers already know the DoNova®. The important thing for you is that you are legally on the safe side.

Which certification is the DoNova® subject to?

The textile chain underwent numerous internal tests on its way to market maturity, confirming the system’s performance. Quality is also checked regularly in production. Both the DoNova® PowerLift and the DoNova® PowerLash have been certified as Dekra systems. The DoNova® PowerLift is also subject to the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and is therefore CE marked.

Can the textile chain be used on sharp edges?

Like lashing straps or textile slings(lifting slings, round slings), the DoNova® must not be passed over sharp edges without additional protection. A sharp edge is present if the edge radius r is smaller than the thickness d (definition of DGUV 109-017). For applications with sharp edges, a DoAntiCut protective hose, for example, can be used as additional protection.

Up to how many tons can the textile chain be loaded?

With this question one has to distinguish between the textile sling chain DoNova® PowerLift and the textile lashing chain DoNova® PowerLash.

The DoNova® PowerLash is available in versions with LC 10,000 daN and with LC 16,000 daN.

The load capacity of the DoNova® PowerLift depends on the number of strands and the angle of inclination:

Number of strands

1 strand

2-strand

3-strand

4 strand

Load capacity

WLL 5,000 kg

WLL 7,000 kg (0-45°)
WLL 5,000 kg (45-60°)

WLL 10,500 kg (0-45°)
WLL 7,500 kg (45-60°)

WLL 10,500 kg (0-45°)
WLL 7,500 kg (45-60°)

What are the advantages of the DoNova® compared to a conventional steel chain?

  • Just as strong as a high tensile steel chain
  • Up to 85% less dead weight
  • Facilitates the physical work enormously
  • Significantly reduces the risk of injury
  • Made of abrasion resistant material
  • Durable
  • Protects the load
  • Not electrically conductive
  • Waterproof and floatable
  • Chemical resistant
  • Easily shortenable
  • Low noise
  • Easy to handle
  • Temperature resistant (-40 to +70° C)

How is it possible for a “fabric chain” to withstand so much?

The textile chain consists of individual multi-layer chain links, each of which is manufactured from webbing made of the high-performance fiber Dyneema®. Each chain link is additionally laid as a Möbius ring, which distributes the force better when tightening and considerably increases the service life of the system. So it’s a redundant system that makes the chain so strong.

Can the DoNova® PowerLash be used in the lacing aisle?

The textile lashing chain is allowed to work in the lacing cycle. The LC must be reduced by 20% in this case.

How much does the DoNova® PowerLash stretch?

The DoNova® PowerLash system has a very low elongation of max. 1 % and thus avoids constant re-tensioning.

What is the longevity of the DoNova® textile chain?

Through stringent third-party certifications, textile chains made of Dyneema® DM20 achieve safety factors equivalent to those of steel chains. The longevity depends on the area of application. The Dolezych user manual supplied with this includes the Criteria for the safe use and disposal of the textile chain.

How does the textile chain DoNova® behave in the field of Sweat production?

As with all textiles, direct exposure to intense heat, such as a welding flame, should be avoided, as these temperatures are high enough to melt and bond pieces of metal. As soon as the Dyneema® DM20 fiber is no longer in contact with the fire source, the fiber extinguishes itself. Therefore, fires do not spread and the high molecular weight of Dyneema® fiber makes it difficult for the fiber to melt. The DoNova® textile chain can be used in a manufacturing area, such as near a welding operation, where it is exposed to sparks. Dolezych defines the safe working distance between the welding flame and the textile warp with the help of the instructions for use.

Is there a wear indicator in the textile to know when it has to be taken out of service?

There is no wear indicator in the DoNova® textile chain. It it is common for wear threads to occur in the individual layers of flat belt slings is coming. The DoNova® textile warp consists of several layers of webbing, which are combined to form a individual chain links can be wound. This causes a cut on the extreme situation does not lead to the immediate loss or reduction of the secure Working load of the textile chain DoNova®.  Therefore, wear indicators for synthetic chains made of Dyneema® are not so widespread. The Cut resistance of Dyneema® fibers is 10 times higher than that of Polyester fibers.
