Edge protection is essential to protect the webbing of ratchet straps, lifting slings and round slings from dangerous fabric cuts caused by sharp edges and/or to protect the goods being transported. An edge is sharp if the edge radius of the load is smaller than the diameter of the lifting strap, rope or lifting chain.
Edge protectors ensure optimum load securing in trucks, vans and the like. They protect sensitive goods such as paper rolls, chipboard or rigib board from damage by tensioning and ratchet straps by providing uniform pressure distribution over a larger area. The range of materials for edge protectors for transport securing is diverse. From aluminum edge protectors to rubber edge protectors, you will find what you are looking for. But not only the cargo should be secured against damage. A ratchet strap also experiences friction during use against, for example, sharp-edged cargoes, which leads to damage to the weave structure. This wear can be additionally avoided by abrasion protection hoses or edge protection hoses. The following video gives again a small overview of the possibilities:
A textile profile hose coated with at least 5 mm thick polyurethane can be fitted to protect the lifting strap and round sling. Alternatively, a lifting slingcan also be firmly encapsulated with at least 5 mm thick polyurethane per lifting belt side. This coating is firmly fixed on the lifting belt. All fixed coatings and profiled hoses can be additionally equipped with granulate surface protection or with a surface roughening to increase slip resistance.
Cutting of chains and ropes due to sharp edges can also be easily prevented by Dolezych edge protectors.

DoLex profiled hoses are also produced with an additional glass fleece insert in the PU potting for particularly tough applications. Please inquire!
DoLex edge protection profile hoses for 4-ply lifting straps are also available from us on request.
DoLex 1 profile hoses
DoLex profile hoses are easily slidable and replaceable due to a special textile insert. This is the only way to safely turn a sharp-edged load. The following effect is achieved with DoLex profile hoses: When the load (e.g. a coil) is lifted, the hose adheres immovably to the edge of the transported goods. The lifting strap slides in the profiled hose and is free to stretch and position itself under the increasing load.
TIP: The DoLex profile hose must be significantly shorter than the lifting strap so that the hose has sufficient space on each side to slide on the lifting strap.

DoLex 2 profile hoses with ribs
Like DoLex 1 profile hoses, DoLex 2 hoses with rib are slidable and replaceable. DoLex 2 with rib is equipped with longitudinal grooves on the side facing the transported material. This has the advantage that the transported material lies first on the ribs. The hose clings even better to the material to be lifted thanks to these beads and thus offers additional security against slipping. The ribbing also brings increased crush resistance. The textile insert hose inside allows the lifting strap to slide well.

DoLex 2 profile hoses with rounded edge
The DoLex 2 profile hoses with rounded edge are a further development of the DoLex 1 edge protection. Due to the rounded edges, this DoLex 2 hose offers increased protection against strap crushing at the bend point of the lifting strap. In addition, the greater flexibility of the hose ensures better handling.

Fixed coatings with a minimum thickness of 5mm are particularly advantageous when small loads with a narrow material width have to be lifted in a U-shape and the useful length of the lifting sling is very short. Here, the fixed coating offers more flexibility than a short and therefore relatively stiff hose. The DoLex fixed coatings are tightly encapsulated with the lifting or iron-on tape and are transparent – so that the fabric tape can be inspected. However, the DoLex fixed coating should only be selected if the load cannot move in the strip, i.e. there is no relative movement between the coating and the load. For lifting operations with relative movements, the DoLex profile hoses are then preferable.
Please note: Fixed coatings are not suitable for turning sharp-edged loads!
